BUTTERFLY DREAM PARIS 2020
PARIS FASHION WEEK – off-schedule show,
Le Salon des Miroirs, Paris
Six Looks: Digitally printed polyester
This work is a poetic and immersive installation in which clothing and space blend together to create a dreamlike experience, inspired by a famous allegory from the ancient Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi.
ollowing my exhibition in Tokyo, I developed a capsule collection inspired by the theme of Butterfly Dream.
The collection features six outfits, each created with original textile prints that evoke the sensation of drifting between dream and reality.
The concept draws from the ancient Chinese parable The Butterfly Dream by Zhuangzi. In this story, Zhuangzi dreams he is a butterfly, but upon waking, he questions whether he is truly Zhuangzi who dreamt of being a butterfly―or a butterfly now dreaming he is Zhuangzi.
This allegory dissolves the boundary between dream and reality, self and other, and suggests the fluidity of identity and the elusive nature of existence. Through the interplay of texture, silhouette, and print, the collection explores this delicate ambiguity and invites viewers into a space where perception and being are constantly shifting.
