The artwork  is a visualisation of the process of women visiting Saudi Arabia and adjusting to their local environment. The girls may initially experience culture shock at the differences in their environment. However, they gradually change in body and mind as they enjoy food, fashion, travelling and interacting with Saudi people. The girls gradually become accustomed to life and accept their way of life and the process of assimilating into their environment through various interactions, rather than being mere travellers, is captured in my work.

The traditional Japanese ‘kimono’ was chosen as the form of clothing. I have often seen Saudi women wearing kimonos in recent years in place of their national dress, the ‘abaya’. I felt happy to see Saudi women enjoying Japanese culture. I therefore created garments that are mix of the Saudi abaya and Japanese kimono.
